To say its a 3* hotel. Location fantastic-right on the beach, walking distance to the promenade where there are plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. very clean, friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you. We asked for ground floor room which we got. lovely, clean pool. Food is great accommodates for Turkish or English food depending on what you'd like; reasonably priced too.

Would highly recommend. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Rooms adequate for your needs. Everywhere is kept clean and there is always someone on hand if you need anything. You're a stones throw away from the beach, literally just across the road. Lots of choices for places to eat and the food is lovely. Will definitely come back here again

This was our second trip to Chalis Beach and our first stay at Gunes Hotel. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful, I couldn’t fault them at all. The hotel itself is in a good location, with the beach and main promenade only a few feet away. The rooms are OK, a bit dated, but very clean and the maids left the towels folded into different shapes every morning, which was a nice touch. The only disappointment in the room was the poor Wi-Fi (this was ok around the pool, and on the balcony, but very poor inside room) and the poor air conditioning. It was very hot when we stayed and all the air conditioning was really just a faint, coolish breeze which was hardly felt when laying in bed. Breakfast was nice with a selection of cold options including bread, meats, cheese, salad, eggs and cereal. A member of staff was also available to cook eggs to your requirements. The tea, coffee and juices were also nice. The restaurant connected to the hotel was great and we visited every lunchtime. The food was tasty and very reasonably priced and the staff were brilliant. Sitting on the promenade, only feet from the beach, watching the world go by was a joy. Because the hotel was close to the beach and promenade this meant that it was very noisy at night. The need to have the balcony door open, because of the poor air conditioning, meant that my partner and I didn’t sleep particularly well all week. Especially when the bin lorries seemed to come round about midnight and empty all the large bins containing glass bottles! The biggest drawback, and the reason I probably wouldn’t stay again is the clientele! I understand the hotel has no say in who books (and it was cheaper compared to other hotels in the resort) but a large percentage of people would be suited to programs like ‘Bargain loving Brits Abroad’! Laying around the pool all day in their fake Burberry swimming trunks, smoking (with hacking coughs), drinking, talking very loudly and ordering chip butties for lunch! It also got to the point where I was having to get up around 6.30am to put towels on the sun beds just to beat the ‘Bargain Loving’ clientele from claiming them all. I also didn’t agree with certain people drinking beer around the pool as one broken glass or bottle would have meant glass in the pool and potentially lacerated feet. Overall, a nice hotel in a good location, but I probably wouldn’t stay again.

A bit dated and basic perhaps, but if you're looking for a chill vacation this is a wonderful choice. I had an incredibly relaxing week when I stayed here during the summer. Breakfast is basic but you can find restaurants nearby, it's usually a short walk. The location is pretty great, the sea isn't all that clear but it's pretty clean. The coast also faces the sunset clearly, which is a beautiful view. The staff is incredibly friendly and kind. Also adorable and friendly dogs all around the street, with some street performers.

We have stayed at the Gunes 8 weeks, our first time here after our booked hotel closed. The hotel is in a superb location, is very well run, great value, and we really enjoyed our stay here. Rooms are spotless, cleaned daily, beds are comfortable, and the wider hotel is kept very clean. The pool was ready the day we arrived, well before most other hotels. There are plenty of beds available and a sizeable pool. Staff have been superb, friendly and professional, speak excellent English and small issues are quickly resolved. ( eg bedding). Rooms are modern, and have all you need. Particular mention of morat who is excellent on reception, memet the lovely chap at breakfast, ecevit the friendly manager and tezcan who always did our eggs even before asking. And Alan in the bar who was always helpful, but not chasing for drinks. This hotel has made our stay and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Breakfast is ample, never runs out, and plenty of choice of Turkish breakfast ( no cooked English ). The only issue has been WiFi in the room. But we get good wifi reception on our verandah and by the pool or bar. Other guests staying here all seem very happy, it’s booked out at times and many repeat guests - some for years. (I see there are isolated one star ratings last season. But I don’t think they can have stayed here!! Maybe a different Gunes?). All round this is a great value and excellent place to stay in Calis. Some noise from sundia hotel nearby at night but it stops fairly early - c. 10-11pm.
